Oral Examinations

Regular oral exams by your dentist give them the opportunity to identify any oral health issues and make a plan to treat them.

During the exam, your dentist will evaluate your jaw muscles, jaw joint (TMJ) and occlusion (or bite). They will examine each and every tooth for cracks, decay, broken fillings, and discolouration, as well as your gums for gum disease, inflammation and bone loss. Your exam will also include digital x-rays, an oral cancer screening, and other diagnostic procedures as required.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer can affect any part of the mouth or surrounding tissues. Using a handheld oral screening device, our dentists can identify abnormalities like cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions which are difficult to detect with the naked eye.

Patient Education & Preventive Care

We're committed to helping patients reach optimal oral health with patient education. We will communicate with you every step of the way so you have a complete understanding of your oral health status. We'll also share helpful tips for how to maintain your oral health between exams and cleanings - like brushing your teeth for two minutes twice a day, and flossing once a day.

Dental Hygiene Therapy| Saddletowne Dental | Northeast Calgary Dentist

Dental Hygiene Therapy

Before or after your exam, your dental hygienist will perform a deep cleaning of your smile to prevent and treat disease.

Laser Treatment

Numerous studies have shown that low-level laser therapy can reduce the number of harmful bacteria in and around your gums, so we aim to use dental lasers during your cleaning.

Fluoride Treatment

If you have a high risk of tooth decay, your dentist may also recommend a fluoride treatment. Fluoride is a natural mineral that can help to rebuild the minerals in your tooth enamel to prevent or reverse tooth decay.
